Th first Single off of Skaldic's new album Through Nature

Road To The Northern Sky is an interesting piece in the sense that it was written as a vague interpretation of a traditional Chinese dragon tattoo. The original work is a black and white image that exhibits both raging beauty as well as aggression. This translates to my composition where the music itself first appears to be angry and demonic but if you listen to the different instruments within the music you can hear simple melodies which creates a sense of turmoil for the listener. The music relays an idea that within anger and aggression, glimpses of beauty can be seen beneath the melancholy. The understanding of dragons in Western culture is that they are a force of evil. However, in Eastern culture they symbolize a force of good. The difference in views can also be seen in Road To the Northern Sky. It’s initial appearance sounds evil and aggressive but in reality there is more to understand than just the initial interpretation of the music.
